We live in sobering times.
There have been many prophetic and secular voices that have spoken over the last number of years that our nation is entering into an even more turbulent season than what we have recently experienced. (As in, it's going to get way worse before it gets better.) I just watched a non-religious podcast this week where they shared how Americans are feeling a general sense of dread about the future. Even my plumber told me some months back how he's been prepping for what's to come.

As a prophetically-inclined person myself, I try to keep my "ear to the wind" to hear what the Lord is speaking to His people, always asking the Holy Spirit to help me discern what is a true word from heaven and what is conspiracy, what is a potential threat that could be avoided or mitigated through prayer and fasting and what is unchangeable.
In Genesis 7, God spoke to Noah that a flood was coming and to prepare. Yet in 2 Chronicles 7:14, God encouraged King Solomon and the Israelites that He would intervene in the midst of calamity if His people would humble themselves, pray, repent, and turn from their wicked ways.
In Acts 11, Agabus prophesied that a famine would spread over the entire Roman world. The Church in Antioch responded by collecting and sending provision to believers in Judea. Yet, when Agabus prophesied to Paul in Acts 21 that hardship awaited him in Jerusalem, Paul still went, completely undeterred.
I don't know how the Lord has instructed you to respond to these crazy times and the shakings that many sense are still to come for our nation. What I do want to suggest is this simple admonition from the prophet Micah:
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
More than ever before, people need to know just how loving and powerful our God truly is. We need to remind folks (and ourselves) that He has numbered the hairs on our heads and His thoughts towards us outnumber the sands of the sea. Nothing can separate us from His love.
Let's love people. Share Jesus's glorious gospel. Demonstrate mercy. Do acts of kindness. Pray for those around you. Act justly. Make disciples of Jesus.
THIS is how we'll change the world. It's the way God always has.
